Montigo Resort

Montigo Resort was opened for less than a year when I visited with 8 other friends on July 2013 and it was one of the most beautiful resorts we can get at the price. Before I start marveling the beauty of the resort, let me bring you through the itinerary so as to allow everyone fully make use of their time at Batam.

Montigo Resort is located at Nongsa, Batam. From Singapore's Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, there is a ferry to bring you to Nongsapura and from there, you can request for resort shuttle bus service (inform them beforehand, they respond e-mail promptly and are very helpful). However, Nongsa is an hour away from the city, so as to save the 2 hours trip to and fro, we decided to head over to the city before checking in the resort.

We had booked our ferry to Batam Center from Singapore and from Nongsapura to Singapore from Batam Fast. The tickets are approximately $45 per person. It is less than an hour ferry ride from Harbourfront Singapore to Batam Centre. The ferry ride was horrible though. We got the last row where there were NO ventilation and was threatening to suffocate everyone and we were perspiring like mad.

Lucky us, we survived the ferry and quickly made our way to Batam City Square via the link bridge from Batam Center Terminal. We had A&W for lunch that is no longer available in Singapore. The chicken was no longer as good as we remembered but decent enough. Service was rather slow but I guess it is normal for Indonesia standards.

Root beer floats!

Next up, groceries shopping at the megamart for our trip. Everything is so cheap there and we just grab everything. Just buy away, people. And yes, we bought two boxes of Pop-Mie, cup instant noodles of mee goreng and it was the diggtybomb.

Shopping loots from Megamart

We had booked transport services from batamtaxi.com. It costs approximately S$9 per hour and it was minimum of 4 hours. As we had 9 people to split the cost, it was a deal for us. We got the uncle to bring us to Habour Bay for seafood lunch. Most of the seafood restaurants at Harbour Bay only opens for dinner. A table full of seafood was approximately S$12 per person. Really worth the price.

Next, we had to take a one hour ride to Montigo Resort. The place was captivating and we made a nuisance were all squealing aloud like some sua ku.  The staff were smiling with us as we couldn't contain our excitement. We had to book 2 villas as the resort do not allow all 9 of us to squeeze in one villa. Honestly speaking, the villa has more than enough space to squeeze more (pictures below will show). Maximum occupancy for a villa is 4 people, so any extra person has to pay an additional S$120 or so.

Photos of the villa below were taken by my photographer friend. Check out his Facebook page here

Living room, completed with Wii, Xbox, DVD player and all the necessary kitchen appliances.
Personal swimming pool and dining table

Second storey- master bedroom and a sofa-bed

Bathroom of the master bedroom

Second bedroom for the single beds

Third storey - a great place to hang out at night in the cool breeze

Buffet breakfast was included for us and there was nothing to rave or brag about. On our way back to the villa, we met a staff and decided to ask if he could give us a ride in his buggy around the resort. He agreed and drove us around while introducing the place to us. He even brought us to the beach, which was kind of pathetic so I decided to just leave it out.

We ordered room service for our lunch before leaving checking out. Food was decent for the price we were paying.

If these pictures are not enough to tempt any of you here to book a villa at Montigo Resort now, I don't know what will! This is the perfect place to hang out with your friends and family but in my opinion, the villa is wayyy too big for couples retreat.
